Summary: Adwords is the stock Market and Keywords are the companies
Comment: To me Adwords is just like a big stock market, but instead of Stocks you buy Keywords. Everything I knew about Marketing previous to getting involved in SEM, was based on last semester of school. I took a Marketing class as a requirement for my Business Minor andthought it was silly and not really applicable to the real world. After four years of building software in a software development group I have moved over to the dark side. Yes, instead of worrying about user experience, and how well the site is working I now worry about cramming advertising on web pages, so I needed some background on marketing again.

It can't be stated enough that Search Engine Marketing is not the same as Brand Advertising. This was the 2nd book I have read on the topic. The book will teach you Direct marketers set one goal from their ads: to compel a measurable response from their prospects. What better way to measure response than AdWords as it keeps track of everything expecially when tied to Google Analytics.

I loved the example they gave in chapter 13 about the Wright Brothers. It is often the sidebars that made this book interesting. This book was packed with information without reading like a textbook, so the little stories I could tolerate. However,I never did understand the "Uncle Claude Sez segments", I could have done without those. Also, like many others I never did find the $85 Google Success toolkit. Overall this helped me run my Adwords campaign better. Also Perry's website is great if you get a chance to check it out. The Split testing tool is fantastic.

Summary: Readers Beware
Comment: When I first read this book, I was thrilled to apply what the book said. But only to find that I dump thousands of dollars to Google by having lots of clicks and no improvement on conversions. I use site-targeted which the book suggested, and I have lots of clicks but the signup for free users and the customers did not increase a bit at all. I really hope I have never seen this book at all. The book gives you a feel of thrill at the beginning, but somehow each time I review the book again my luck get worse. Other than the fact that I lost thousands of dollars, somehow my instinct tells me to stay away from this book. I suggest people read 'search marketing inc' to get a solid idea of search engine marketing concept first if you are still going to read this book.

I really enjoyed the book, but I thought this book was about affiliate programs and how to get your website going.

I'm not a manager/merchant. I have a blog i'm struggling with to sell other business stuff.

But, overall I was able to get a lot of information that I can use.

Summary: Hit The Nail On The Head
Comment: The Ultimate Guide to Google Adwords by Perry Marshall is exactly what the title says. Several e-commerces opt to do online marketing through Adwords but know little about how to run their campaign, thus costing them a fortune. With this book, you will learn the algorithms of Google, how Adwords works and more importantly you will learn how to save yourself frustration and money by properly running your account. Overall, you will be making one big step in the right direction in terms of your business and its overall success. Definite thumbs up!

Summary: Too Macho for my tastes
Comment: The book is full of 'I did this' and 'I did that' with little nitty gritty of 'How I did this' and 'How I did that'.

I am sure that I will extract value from the book but the testosterone charged, 'I'm the best' just gets to me.
