By changing the layout of circuits inside the LCD panel and by reducing the number of parts, Sharp engineers developed the Slim-line design which reduces depth by 25%, allowing placement of the LC-42D64U in virtually any setting. The LC-42D64U utilizes Sharp's proprietary Advanced Super View / Black TFT Panel with multi-pixel technology, providing 10,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio with Enhanced Picture Contrast Technology and 4ms response time. The LC-42D64U features built-in ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuners and includes 3 HDMI (version 1.3) inputs, compatible with 1080p signals, a PC input and 2 HD component video inputs. Side terminals are included for wall-mounting convenience as well as RS-232C input for control.

Summary: The Sharp High Def.
Comment: This television is great. I have been nothing but impressed. No problems and it is working without error. However, the white glove service was anything but good. Not the fault of Amazon, they can not control the delivery when it occurs. The delivery people did not open or set up the TV, but in fact placed in my livng room and then quickly left. Why didn't I say anything, he (one guy) could hardly speak english and I didn't really feel like trying to communicate with him at that point. Beside, I didn't pay for the service, it was free as far as I know. Bottom line, the TV is great and I'm glad I purchased it from AMAZON.

Summary: Nice picture but could not use menu to adjust when reeceived
Comment: Received Sharp 42" LCD From Amazon. Set Up but could not be adjusted from menu. Selections missing. Spent hours on the phone with Sharp Customer Service (nice and responsive) trying to fix. Sharp CS had to have local tech come to my home to fix. He could not fix and said the Sharp would have to be sent somewhere to have Boards replaced.
On new TV ??? Sent back to Amazon. Waiting on Amazon credit. Bought a 46" Samsung from Amazon.

Summary: First HDTV purchase. Wow what a picture !!!
Comment: Delivery took about about 4 days to deliver. White glove service showed up when scheduled, setup and checked operation. Realized later I could not channel search and could not receive digital channels. Called the Sharp 800 number to find out the TV was shipped in hotel mode and required a service reset not listed in the user manual. Technical service was very helpful and walked me through step by step until normal functions were all useable. Had to adjust color slightly and tweaked several other settings before I was completely satified. Been trouble free for a month and I expect this will continue.

Amazon's price was competitive but not the lowest although it did include free shipping and white glove delivery and setup . I've been comfortable using Amazon in the past so I had to give them my largest online purchase to keep things worry free. Thanks Amazon!

Summary: Great TV...for 3 months
Comment: We bought this TV in August 2008. On Thanksgiving Day (3 months later), it began to turn itself off after about 15 minutes. The first time, I thought it was a fluke and unplugged the set and tried again. After several more attempts and more of the same, the TV went in the box and was returned.

The picture was spectacular. The options- incredible. This is a great set, but ours lasted a whole 3 months before being replaced.

Comment: The TV shipped with Hotel mode enable, I have difficult time to figure out how to disable it.
When in Hotel Mode you can not get to EZ setup and Ch setup menu.
