Summary: Drive failed after 2 weeks
Comment: The drive failed after about 2 weeks. I had to return it to Iomega for a replacement, which just arrived about a week after I mailed the bad drive in. I'm not sure I can trust this drive for critical files.

The software that comes with the drive looks pretty good, but I didn't really get time to check it out.

Summary: Dead on arrival. Avoid.
Comment: Item arrived DOA. I hooked it up and my computer froze and a horrible clicking sound came from the iomega drive. I went to the manufacturer to see if they would replace it, but they only offered a remanufactured one. At this point I can not recommend this product, I will be getting a new one soon, but after having one already die on me I will be nervous using it.

Summary: so far so good
Comment: I chose this one rather than the shinny LaChie because I thought this one might be better for the elimination of heat. It has been on my desk for more than 1 month. So far so good, works well with my macbook. With the Time machine software, you don't have to worry about data backup any more.
The size of the closure is smaller than I expected.
It also looks good, but I think they can even make the closure even prettier. After all, for electric products, the fancier the better.
I have no idea about the duration of the hard drive inside. I hope it will be safe and sound for a long time.

Comment: It's been nearly a month since I bought this thing and I still don't have a working hard drive...
The first Iomega was delivered promptly, but was DOA. I was then offered a replacement from Iomega if I paid the shipping! After much complaining they shipped me a replacement at their cost. Received the replacement yesterday it is not a new product, but a remanufactured one - worse it doesn't work either!!!!
Now they say I have a bad power supply and are sending me another one. So far I'm not too happy, hopefully the new power supply will fix it, but I'm skeptical.

Comment: This drive was very easy to set up, just plug and play. It didn't come with any software to do automatic backups, so I had to create a Scheduled Task for that. The drive is very fast and very large. I haven't even begun to make a dent in its storage. Lots of room for movies, pictures, anything you want to store away from your C: drive.
